There is usually a statute somewhere in the books of your state that say an off duty officer is allowed to carry a concealed weapon. It was because if you were off duty but happened to be on the scene of a crime, you were responsible to stop it by performing your duties and protecting the innocent. 24/7. My how times have changed.
